A note from our owner, Susan Stroman

I believe there is a bit of magic in this river!

The Edisto is the longest running black water in North America. It meanders for approximately 250 miles, beginning near Saluda County and flowing only through one city (Orangeburg) to the Atlantic Ocean. The widest portion of the river is right here!

The huge bald cypress & water tupelo trees are amazing. Some grow to 100 ft. tall. So when you are paddling, you want to be sure to bring binoculars. You will almost always see a Bald Eagle or Broad winged hawks. Even falcons! So you have to keep your eyes to the sky (as well as on the river, or you may end up in a strainer along the way).

Exploring along the riverbanks has been great! Some fine artifacts have been found here.

The magic of the river is heard in the sounds of silence, the crackle of the campfire, the orchestra of cicada and bullfrogs!

So this weekend, put down the remote and unplug! Come listen, smell, an

d see what you’ve been missing! Simply experience the beauty of our fresh water river, interact with nature, and explore!

Summer is almost here, so enjoy the benefits of being

outside and getting a little sand and mud between your toes. Bring the family, rent a cabin, or camp at a state park along the

river, and create a memory! Let Edisto River Adventures take you on a 3 to 4 hour kayaking trip. Enjoy the laughter at the campfire, and save the emails for later!

I promise you will feel renewed, refreshed, and best of all recharged when you get back to work on Monday!!!
